Moving from Research to Writing

Wednesday, April 24, 2024, 12:00-1:30pm | Walker Hall 1230 West Conference Room

Register with 1-Click!!

Moving from research to writing is a complex and daunting process whether you are writing an article or a dissertation. This workshop will help to demystify the academic writing process and give you tools that you can use in moving from the research phase of your project to writing. Designed for graduate students who are currently writing or preparing to write academic articles or their thesis/dissertation, this workshop focuses on providing strategies for analyzing and synthesizing research results, building a writing action plan, and sustainably implementing that plan. This workshop is one-third presentation, one-third guided research, and one-third analysis and application of the strategies we discuss. You will leave the workshop with both drafting strategies and a personalized writing action plan for your project. You will also take with you the ability to replicate this process for future writing projects!

Dr. Cassie Hemstrom (PhD Literature 2014, University of Nevada, Reno) is a Continuing Lecturer and Assessment Coordinator in the University Writing Program at UC Davis. She teaches a wide variety of lower and upper division composition courses including Writing for Business, Writing in Internships, and Writing in the Health Sciences.
