Practice Your Faculty Job Talk

October 19, 2026–February 26, 2027 | Walker Hall

Prepare for the academic job market with GradPathways Institute’s faculty job talk practice series. These open sessions offer PhD students a supportive, realistic environment to refine their presentations, receive constructive feedback, and learn from one another.

You do not need a scheduled campus interview or upcoming job talk to participate.

How It Works

Participating students will invite three to four faculty members from their field to serve as a practice committee. Faculty do not need to be members of the student’s dissertation committee.

Sessions will be open to graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and interested faculty. Presenters will receive both general and field-specific feedback, while audience members can gain insight into academic job talks across disciplines.

GPI is also working with the Career Center and Library to arrange additional staff expertise for constructive feedback.

Sessions will take place in Walker Hall between October 19, 2026, and February 26, 2027. Lunch-hour sessions, 12pm - 1pm. Individual session dates and times will be announced as arrangements are confirmed.
