Diversity statements have become prerequisitesfor many positions on the academic job market. These statements demonstrate anindividual’s commitment to supporting and prioritizing diversity through theirresearch, teaching, and service. In this hands-on workshop, participants willreview the conventions and criteria by which diversity statements are assessed.They will also have the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for their ownstatements and engage in peer review. Participants are highly encouraged tobring a draft of their own diversity statement to the workshop to review andrevise. Participants are also encouraged to access and complete the TACOn-Demand module, “Writing aDiversity Statement: Communicating Experiences with Social Justice in HigherEducation,” prior to attending the session.
