Creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Creating an Individual Development Plan or IDP allows graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to set professional development and career planning goals and take the steps necessary to complete them.  In addition, some funding agencies require trainees to complete an IDP and to discuss it with their mentor.

This page contains a number of the more commonly GradPathways used IDP resources.  Keep in mind that it is important to revisit your IDP on a regular basis and update and revise your goals.  Your mentor(s) can assist you in formulating goals and timelines that best meet your professional and career development needs.
